*You are going to SPEAK ENGLISH fluently this year.*
Here’s how: ⤵
1. Master Pronunciation First: ☆
I didn’t want to just learn random words and expressions, I wanted to speak naturally like a native speaker. That’s why I started with pronunciation. Master the IPA chart and get comfortable with every English sound. Choose an accent, American, British, Australian, whatever you love, and stick to it. When your pronunciation is clear, people will understand you better, and you’ll understand them more easily.
2. Immerse Yourself in English: ☆
Make English a part of your daily life. Change your phone settings to English. Watch movies and videos with English subtitles. Read short stories. Write your to-do lists and diaries in English. Listen to English podcasts. The more you surround yourself with English, the faster you’ll improve.
3. Focus on all four skills: ☆
English has four main skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Don’t just focus on one and ignore the others. Dedicate 10–20 minutes daily to each skill. Speak every day. Listen to native speakers. Read and write in English. Balance is key!
4. Keep Grammar Simple: ☆
Don’t drown yourself in endless grammar rules. Just learn the basics, the essential tenses, and start speaking. Overthinking grammar will slow you down. Fluency comes from practice, not from memorizing complex rules.
5. Learn what you’ll actually use: ☆
You don’t need to know every word in the dictionary. Focus on the most commonly used words, phrases, and expressions that native speakers use daily. That’s how you’ll speak naturally, sound professional, and handle conversations with ease.
